The Indian Ocean Regional Decade Conference 2024 (IO-Con2024) took place on 1-3 February, 2024. Organised by the Decade Collaborative Centre for the Indian Ocean Region (DCC-IOR) hosted at the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), the conference sought to involve Indian Ocean Region (IOR) stakeholders in Ocean Decade activities, discuss Vision 2030 priorities, facilitate networking among IOR stakeholders, and provide a platform for various stakeholders to voice concerns and expectations for the 2024 Ocean Decade Conference in Barcelona.
Jan-Bart Calewaert, lead manager of the Decade Coordination Office for Ocean Data Sharing (DCO-ODS) delivered a presentation at IO-Con2024 on 2 February 2024, shedding light on crucial aspects of the UN Ocean Decade’s work towards advancing ocean data sharing initiatives. The talk delved into the pivotal role of the DCO-ODS and provided exciting updates on our latest endeavours.
